Always wanted to fish the beach? Learn how to catch fish consistently at the Capilano estuary for Coho, Pink, Chinook, and the odd wild Capilano Chum salmon. Enjoy first light fly fishing at Ambleside while learning about the history of this fascinating fishery and the Capilano river watershed. Experience all of the natural elements that make this one-of-a-kind flats fishery so exhilarating, especially at first light.
All levels welcome: This can be a very challenging saltwater fly fishery at times. If you’re new to saltwater casting level up with an introduction to beach fly casting to prepare for your guided session.
What you’ll need:
A BC tidal waters fishing license: https://recfish-pechesportive.dfo-mpo.gc.ca/nrls-s...
Chest waders ( or any waders) with wading boots, the beach can get very rocky.
Rod: #6/7/8 wt fly rod with floating line, intermediate tip optional,
Highly recommended: Hat, polarized sunglasses or protective eyewear, rain jacket, sunscreen, and consider sun gloves and gaiter, water bottle, a camera, patience.
What we offer on guided trips:
Experienced tidal angling guide and flats fly angler, with over 2500 hours on the beach in the last 8 years, and 35 years of saltwater fly fishing experience in B.C.
A custom stripping basket and landing net rental included. ( or purchase one in the shop)
Leaders, tippet, custom beach flies, catch processing and packaging.
Central location accessible by public transit, with free parking, restaurants, shopping and amenities across the street from the beach.
Documentation: Professional film and photography packages available to document your experience.
